New Jersey Guns
Did you know? (Some
NJ Firearm laws trivia)
-
Did you know that on 1/10/98 Gov. Whitman signed
into law N.J.S. 2C:39-16 which is known as Assembly bill 221, "Leader of
Firearm Trafficking Network "? This law makes it a crime to
unlawfully sell, transport or dispose of a firearm punishable as a FIRST
DEGREE OFFENSE (10-20 years) and up to a $500,000 fine! Quoting Evan
Nappen is in his book, "Nappen
on NJ Gun Laws", on page 17:
"Never before in the history
of U.S. gun laws has a pure victimless anti-gun law (not involving
the unlawful use of a firearm against another) been so harsh and
extreme in its penalty. One may commit a Second Degree Sexual
Assault or Seconded Degree Armed Robbery without facing so severe
a penalty. This new gun control law is the same degree of offense
as a MURDER charge."

Did you know that ALL firearms are banned in NJ?
One can legally possess firearms by exemptions only. Under N.J.S.
2C:39-5, possession of ALL firearms is prohibited unless one has a NJ permit
to carry a handgun or a NJ Firearm Purchaser ID card for long guns.
Even if one possesses these licenses, under N.J.S. 2C:39-2b one is presumed
not to be licensed until proven otherwise. It is up to the law abiding
gun owner to prove later in court that he/she was in lawful possession
under an exemption. So, in NJ, GUN OWNERS ARE GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN
INNOCENT!

by law...INCLUDING THE APPLICANT?!?! That means if you are denied
a permit, you can't see the documentation without hiring an attorney to
get this information!
